College World Series 2012: South Carolina Backed Up Against Wall In Game 2
The odds are stacked against the Gamecocks making a comeback, as the SEC blog Team Speed Kills points out.
But Arizona’s 5-1 win in the first game of the College World Series Finals on Sunday puts South Carolina closer to losing the national baseball championship than they’ve been in a long time. Since the championship series began as part of a format change in 2003, only two teams have come back from losing the first game to win the three-game set. In five of those nine series, the team that won the first game swept.
The Gamecocks have rallied back from elimination before in the tournament, but it remains to be seen whether they can do it again against an Arizona squad that is playing all facets of the game at a very high level. You can catch the game live on ESPN.
