2012 College World Series: Arizona Leads 1-0 Through 4 As James Farris One-Hitting South Carolina

Arizona’s James Farris has it all working against South Carolina, as he’s allowed only one hit to the two-time defending national champion Gamecocks.

Farris hasn’t pitched in three weeks, but the sophomore righty has shown no signs of rust: he issued a walk to Christian Walker and a single to LB Dantzler in the fourth. Other than that, it’s been nothing for South Carolina.

As for Arizona, they haven’t exactly been tearing it up with the bats against South Carolina’s Michael Roth, but their one run has been enough to get the job done so far. The scoring came off of a double by first baseman Joseph Maggi, who then was sacrificed over and scored on a groundout. So not an offensive explosion but, considering the way Farris is pitching, the Wildcats might not need fireworks to earn a national championship
