Houston Astros first baseman Carlos Lee left Friday's game against the Reds with a hamstring injury; his manager thought he might miss a few days:

Astros first baseman Carlos Lee, who left Friday's loss to the Reds with a strained left hamstring, wasn't in the lineup Saturday and is likely out until at least Tuesday. Astros manager Brad Mills expressed concern about Lee's health and said Saturday he would be out "for a minimum of a couple of days anyway."

Mills observed Saturday as Lee was put through some tests by the medical staff to gauge the extent of the injury. Matt Downs started at first base in place of Lee, who is hitting .297 with four homers and 23 RBIs this season.

It’ll take more than just a couple of days; the injury was bad enough that this happened Sunday:

The Astros hoped Wallace would take over at first base from Lance Berkman when Houston shipped Berkman to the Yankees in 2010 and acquired Wallace from Toronto at around the same time. But Wallace hit just .248/.323/.354 with seven home runs in 480 at-bats combined between 2010 and 2011. He has been playing this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he's hit .265/.325/.476 in 185 at-bats with 10 home runs. At 25, he still has a chance to become an everyday regular, and he'll get some at-bats now in the major leagues.
