Nate McLouth Signs With Orioles

Nate McLouth was really good at one time; he was on the National League All-Star team, won a Gold Glove, and finished 27th in MVP voting, all in 2008.

That isn’t so long ago.

The Pirates, as is their wont, traded him when he was good, before they had to pay him big money. The Atlanta Braves paid him the big money and got very little. Then the Pirates got him back this year and he hit .140, which got him unceremoniously dumped.

The Baltimore Orioles still think he’s got some baseball left in him:

McLouth is 30; he hasn’t been injured, and several Orioles outfielders have been. Thus, he might have another chance to prove he can still hit major-league pitching, that is, if he can hit Triple-A pitching first.
