The Cleveland Browns want everyone to know they got their guy.
Browns were never interested in Robert Griffin III, Matt Flynn or Ryan Tannehill

Despite reported attempts at a trade, the Browns were never interested in Robert Griffin III, and Matt Flynn didn't do much for them, either, according to Tony Grossi ESPN Cleveland. In addition, Ryan Tannehill did not impress the team in meetings.
Instead, Mike Holmgren and company waited until the end of the first round to grab their guy, Brandon Weeden, a 28 year old signal caller from Oklahoma State.
This is why NFL Draft reports are so tough to judge. It’s impossible to know what Cleveland’s true intentions were heading into the offseason. Of course, reports like this are going to surface to show the Browns’ confidence in Weeden.
None of it matters anyways. Weeden is a Brown and could be named the starting quarterback before camp, Grossi noted. Whether the Browns flirted with other quarterbacks or not, this is Weeden’s team for as long as this current regime is in place.
Though given the current track record of this Cleveland regime, Weeden may not have much of a window.
