NCAA Football 13 hit stores on Tuesday, and after a few days to soak in the game, critics have (for the most part) taken a liking to the latest installment of EA Sports’ college football franchise.

The game features a new passing system, introduces Heisman legends and gave some minor tweaks to a few popular gameplay modes the series offers.

Since I have yet to purchase a copy of the game myself (still cautiously approaching this year’s version), I figured I would break down some of the reviews after the jump to determine if this game is worth purchasing.

IGN, one of the world’s most popular gaming sites, gave NCAA Football 13 a score of 8 out of 10. Reviewer Greg Miller noted that the passing game was much more realistic, but felt the rest of the game didn’t show enough change or improvement to make this version a slam dunk.

Pasta Padre runs, in my opinion, the premiere gaming blog on the web, and his sentiments about NCAA Football were not glowing. He noted that the game won’t feel much different for people who have played the game year in and year out.

Meanwhile, Matthew Kato over at Game Informer claims that religious NCAA players will notice the subtle, yet crucial gameplay improvements the series has made.

Overall, it appears NCAA Football 13 is still a good game, but it doesn’t really jump out as a must-have title. The biggest detractor for me is the lack of new uniforms in the game, which EA had plenty of time to implement.

Check out SB Nation’s review of the game below, and share your thoughts on the game in our poll.
