Matt Barkley has all of the traits NFL scouts look for in a quarterback, including confidence, apparently.
Matt Barkley thinks he could have been drafted over Robert Griffin III in the 2012 NFL Draft

On the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday, Barkley said he thought he could have been selected over Robert Griffin III in the 2012 NFL Draft. There is hardly anything wrong with the comment, just Barkley showing a bit of confidence.
But this raises an interesting question. Barkley finished his junior season strong and would have been a surefire top five pick had he decided to declare for the draft. That being said, Griffin's stock heated up faster than any prospect leading up to the 2012 draft. Barkley-RG3 debates would have been fun, and ultimately, the Cleveland Browns are unfortunate that there were not three stud signal callers available at the top of the draft. While I think Griffin III still would have been the second quarterback off the board, the availability of Barkley would have made the trade scenarios at the top of the draft pretty interesting.
None of that matters now, though. Barkley will play out his senior season at USC and have a chance to be the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but could he have been the No. 2 overall pick this year? What do you guys think?
