Impact draft picks: AFC South

Earlier today you saw the AFC East’s impact players, but it is now time to move on to AFC South. You are not going to find guys like Andrew Luck in this segment. I think people are too high on him. He is a good quarterback, but the way people talk about him, makes me sick. So look at this article if you feel the same way, and you will find some real diamond in the rough prospects who I believe will be the studs of the team, by the end of the season. After the jump, you will find one draft pick from each team, who I believe will have a huge impact for their teams.

Houston Texans – Jared Crick – DT, Nebraska, This kid is a perfect fit to what Wade Phillips has in Houston. If you look at that defense, those boys are all mean looking white boys. You have guys like Brooks Reed, Brian Cushing, JJ Watt and now Jared Crick. Crick is going to be an impact player, who will end up playing in a situational role, but watch for him to take over the spot. He is as strong as a bull, and can get good push. I can see Crick making holes for guys like Reed and Cushing come in and level someone. This defense is going to be one of the best in the league. Wade Phillips knows defense and he has been doing something special in Houston, I can see this team being a top 5 defense. Texans are no joke, if they can stop the pass, they could be the best defense in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans – Zach Brown, OLB, UNC, Brown is a freak athlete who is going to be a guy that comes in right away and contributes. He is a very smart kid, who understands the terminology of the defense. Brown was praised highly by former UNC coach Butch Davis, who has been said to say that he was a leader and reminded him of the old "U". That is a pretty impressive thing, coming from one of the best defensive minded coaches in both college and NFL. I can see Brown, coming in, and taking over. If Brown can stay healthy this kid is going to be great. He was the best player on the UNC defense last year, and it showed when you watched film. He was very rarely out of position and is not afraid to lay wood.

Indianapolis Colts – Dwayne Allen – TE, Clemson, While everyone is focused on Andrew "Overrated" Luck and Coby Fleener in Indy, people forget the best all around tight end coming out of college. Allen is a total package, he has just as good as hands as Fleener, can block, and will be the guy that Luck will be getting the ball on the quick passes. I can see them using Fleener as a wide out, because of his speed. I don’t see Fleener as a bigger impact player than Allen. At Clemson Allen had to do it all, and he was a stud for the Tigers. Allen will be a guy that will shock people, and the guy that people wish they didn’t pass on in the second round. I have a feeling this will be the number #1 receiver in Indy for the first year, and will be the best thing for Andrew Luck.

Jacksonville Jaguars – Justin Blackmon – WR, Oklahoma State, He is by far the best wide receiver in this draft class and he will impress everyone in the NFL. Gabbert is suspect at quarterback, but he was also thrown to the wolves his first year. So if he can take away the positives from last year, and begin to hit the targets they have given him in J-Ville, with Laurent Robinson, Lee Evans and J-Black the Jags could be something serious. Blackmon can stretch a field and runs some very nice routes. He is not a huge guy, but he is very smooth in and out of his cuts. He will gain separation and will probably end up being one of the guys in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
