After finishing 20th in Saturday night’s Quaker State 400 at Kentucky, Carl Edwards season continues to take a downward spiral.
Season of Frustrations Continue For Carl Edwards; Will He Make the Chase?

Edwards was closing in on his first top-5 finish since Auto Club Saturday. Unfortunately, fuel strategy went against them in the closing laps and they were forced to pit and that cost them dearly.
After the race, the Roush-Fenway Racing driver says that despite bad luck and communication issues, he remains hopeful that things will get better.
“We are having some bad luck and some bad communication here. We can do this together. We could divide right now or we could come together.”
After losing a hard fought championship battle to Tony Stewart last fall, Edwards has been struggling. He only has 2 top-5’s, and 8 top-10’s.
After finishing 20th Saturday, Edwards has not finished inside the top-10 since the Coca-Cola 600 back in May.
Despite having a frustrating season, Edwards is still somehow in the Chase hunt. He is currently 11th in points, but he is 34 points behind Brad Kesoloweski.
I know I asked the same question about Jeff Gordon, but will Carl Edwards make the Chase this year?
Thoughts after the jump!
Despite the fact that Carl Edwards is 11th in the standings, he needs to win atleast two races, or have Brad Kesloweski fall off the wagon in the next three weeks for Edwards to catch up to tenth in points. With the way he is running right now, it doesn’t look like its going to happen. His chances of making the Chase at this point are slim to nil.
In regards to their struggles this season, Bob Osbourne and Carl have to figure out their communication issues. Bad luck is bad luck anyway you put it. It happens to everyone. However, communication issues can make or break a season. I hope that they are able to figure it out because I enjoy seeing Carl Edwards up front.
