San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin has been involved in some trade speculation recently, but the team and Quentin have agreed on a three-year contract extension through the 2015 season with a mutual option for the 2016 season, the league announced Sunday.

While the official numbers for the deal have not yet been released, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the deal is believed to be worth anywhere from $27 million to $30 million after bonuses.

Several teams were reportedly targeting the Padres’ power-hitting outfielder, but an extension will likely keep Quentin in San Diego for the time being. Quentin was originally acquired for two minor league prospects last winter and currently is hitting .273 with nine home runs and 22 RBI.
