I know, I know. I've been writing a lot about Tyler Bray this offseason. Between breaking down his sophomore season, to monitoring his weight, to checking in on his Manning Pas Academy performance, I've been keeping tabs on him, because he's a prospect I have a lot of faith in moving forward.
Tyler Bray avoids charges in bottle tossing incident
This time, there’s a bit more news to send your way. Apparently, Bray and his roommate were caught throwing beer bottles and golf balls at a parked car over the weekend. Lucky for Bray, no charges will be brought against him because he approached the car owner and offered to pay all of the damages. This is all according to Go Vols Xtra.
The incident will not work in Bray’s favor, especially after Daniel Jeremiah already compared his personality to that of Matt Leinart. But it doesn’t seem like something to get too worked up about. Bray undoubtedly has some maturing to do, but let’s not forget that he is entering his true junior season and is still 20 years old. So, yeah, he was drinking underage. That’s not a big shocker. What he did was definitely stupid, but he had the head on his shoulders to admit wrong doing and pay for the damages.
Those with an axe to grind against Bray will chalk this up as a red flag against the Tennessee quarterback. But the real maturity I’m looking for from Bray will come on the football field. I don’t care if he drinks or does a few stupid things, so long as he stays out of trouble with the law. He’s in college. Those things happen.
Should his perceived lack of maturity effect his work ethic and ability to lead his football team, then I will become concerned. However, he is still young and still a kid. Let’s give him some time to mature into a leadership role and develop a work ethic.
