The quote of the day (or tournament) at Wimbledon comes from American Mardy Fish, who fell in four sets to No. 5 seed Jo-Wilifried Tsonga in the fourth round.
Mardy Fish Says Jo-Wilifried Tsonga Is French, But Athletic. Or Something.

Mardy Fish on Tsonga: “He’s definitely French but he’s an unbelievably athletic player.”

For quite a while now, the French have produced some quirky, artistry-over-success men’s tennis players, from Yannick Noah to Gael Monfils. I assume that Fish was alluding to the fact that Tsonga goes for style points sometimes (diving and whatnot) but can still dominate with his athleticism. (He is, after all, ranked sixth in the world and pretty good at winning tennis matches.) But a) that’s just a guess, and b) the way Fish said it was much, much funnier.
