Not so long ago, the Cubs traded Ryan Dempster to the Braves.

Except they didn’t! Because Dempster didn’t want to go to the Braves!

That’s what Twitter said, anyway.

Then, with just a few hours remaining until the non-waivers trade deadline, the Cubs traded Ryan Dempster to the Dodgers.

Except they didn’t! Because they didn’t! Not yet, anyway. The latest (at this moment, anyway):

According to at least one report, the Cubs are holding out for hot pitching prospect Allen Webster, and to this point the Dodgers haven't been willing to include him in a deal. You can't really blame either team, as Webster's only 22 and throws an easy low- to mid-90s fastball. On the other hand, he's now pitched 186 innings in Class AA and sports a 4.46 ERA at that level. So he's hardly a sure thing.
