In light of the heavy sanctions the NCAA imposed on Penn State, many expected Penn State players and recruits to flea for greener pastures. Surprisingly, head coach Bill O'Brien has managed to keep the Nittany Lions largely in tact.

Junior running back Silas Redd is moving on from the program, however. Redd announced his decision to transfer to USC on Tuesday, a little more than a week after Penn State received the sanctions.

Redd is coming off a sophomore season in which he collected over 1,200 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He'll add a between the tackles running style to a backfield loaded with players who are dangerous on the edge. Redd joins Curtis McNeal, who also rushed for 1,000 yards last season, in the Trojans' backfield.

Redd will be eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft, but it’s far too early to tell whether or not he will leave school early to turn pro.

With the addition of Redd, USC is even more dangerous offensively. Already armed with the nation's top quarterback, Matt Barkley, and a pair of dominant receivers in Marquis Lee and Robert Woods, USC should now have a well rounded rushing attack as well.

The stars are aligning nicely for USC’s first year removed from their postseason ban.
