Isaiah Crowell heading to Alabama State, making the Hornets favorites to win the SWAC

Just a few days ago, there were numerous reports that came out of Georgia about their highly recruited running back Isaiah Crowell. The rumors turned out to be true, and Crowell was arrested for 3 charges including a weapons charge and was dismissed from the Georgia football program the same day. While it might hurt his NFL Draft stock in a few years, it won't hurt him from getting into another school. Crowell had a choice on his hands, which was he can wait for a year and enroll in another FBS school or enroll in a FCS school and play immediately. Well it wasn't a few days and Crowell has already met up with his newest school. Last night, rumors began spreading that Crowell and his family sat down with the Alabama State football coaches. Well it was true ladies and gentlemen, Isaiah Crowell will be in the SWAC division this year, and boy did he go to a team that can use him. Find out why it was a good choice for him to go to Alabama State, and why he will run all over the SWAC division.

There has just became a new team to become the odds on favorites to win the SWAC, and knock out former Super Bowl Champion Doug Williams and his son Doug Williams Jr. at Grambling State, and that is Alabama State. Last year, they finished the season 8-3 beating Grambling State in the regular season. With the addition of Isaiah Crowell get ready to see the ASU program be the team to beat. They have a very good redshirt senior quarterback in Greg Jenkins, who is a dual threat quarterback and can take off with his feet. The Dade County quarterback is a very gifted athlete and last year with Tim Clark as his running back, they led the team with a total of 13 touchdowns on the ground and were very close to breaking a 1000 yards combined. The problem they were facing this year was they lost Tim Clark the former hard runner who graduated last season, and were going to be forced to use a younger player, but the found a gem in Crowell.

Well with Alabama State getting Isaiah Crowell, they will be able to get a very special player at the cost of a major mistake. Even though Crowell will have the charges being held above him, he will still be a draftable football player in a few years. Crowell is a very talented running back who was gutting the SEC before the incident. Last year he ran for 850 yards on 185 attempts, averaging 4.6 yards a carry. He added an additional 59 yards on 8 receptions and had a total of 6 touchdowns for the Bulldogs. As a small school fan we have seen this before, if you remember Washaun Ealey a few years back for Georgia, he was suspended indefinitely by the team. Ealey ended up in Jacksonville State which is also in Alabama, and the former Bulldog running back is a senior this year. Ealey has been able to turn the corner on his development as a man, and focus on football. He has a draft grade this year, and with another big year, watch out for Ealey and Crowell to take the small schools by storm.

So remember both Crowell and Ealey this year, because the two former Georgia Bulldogs are going to take over the running game in Alabama, but not for a major school. I can see both of these players getting drafted in the near future, but it will be hard for both of them who will have to continue to fight with their character concerns as well as battling the word "Level of Competition".

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
