Isaiah Crowell wasted no time finding a new place to play football after an arrest last week led to his dismissal from the Georgia football team.

Crowell will attend Alabama State University, which is a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, meaning Crowell could play next year, according to the Columbus Ledger Inquirer.

The bigger obstacle facing Crowell’s football career will come in the court room, though. Crowell is facing two felony weapons charges in addition to a misdemeanor. Crowell’s defense will be led by Steve Sadow, the renowned defense attorney who managed to get Ray Lewis acquitted in his murder trial.

If Crowell can somehow avoid the jail cell, his football career is far from dead. He earned freshman of the year honors in the SEC and still has three seasons of eligibility remaining. He has the talent to catch the eyes of scouts, even playing at a lower level. And hey, the likes of Tavaris Jackson and Kevin Barlow have managed to crack NFL rosters after decorated careers with the Alabama State Hornets.

Keep your ears open for Crowell’s name in a few years. But for now, he’s going to fade off into the obscurity of FCS football.
