David Amerson has earned a spot on most big boards and the top ten of plenty of mock drafts after picking off 13 passes in his sophomore season. Tony Pauline, Sports Illustrated's draft expert, wants to see more, though.
Tony Pauline gives David Amerson a third round grade

Pauline has Amerson graded as a third round pick based on his two seasons at NC State. He says Amerson is not as good as his stats may indicate.
It's tough to gauge a prospect's value with so much football to be played between now and the 2013 NFL Draft. At this time last year, the likes of Vontaze Burfict and Cliff Harris graced the top-15 of most big boards. It's an exact science at best.
That being said, Pauline’s evaluation of Amerson is an interesting one, and one that is definitely off the grid. Amerson’s combination of size and speed to go with his playmaking ability really jumps out when watching him play. But a certain amount of luck plays a factor when a player picks off as many passes as Amerson did in 2011.
He still has at least another season to play, but Amerson doesn’t appear to be a “consensus” top ten pick in the truest sense of the word.
