eBay Item Of The Day
From the Golden Age of Graphic Arts, check out this awesome Engel Stadium die cut matchcover from 1956.
The Lookouts went 76-78 that year. Their big slugger was Jesse Levan, who had broken into pro baseball as a 17-year old in 1944, hitting .316 for Wilmington of the Class B Interstate League. He spent some time with the Phillies and Senators before hitting 25 homers for the Lookouts in ‘56. The team’s co-leader in victories was the mild-looking fellow seen here, Dick Hyde.
