David Garrard was taking control of the Miami Dolphins quarterback competition. All reports from camp were that Garrard was healthy again and throwing the ball well.
David Garrard Injury opens the door for Ryan Tannehill

And then news broke Friday that Garrard had suffered a knee injury that would require surgery and for him to miss 2-4 weeks.
That leaves Matt Moore and rookie first round pick Ryan Tannehill as the two horses left in the quarterback race. In Friday night's preseason opener, Tannehill may have taken the upper hand.
The No. 9 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft displayed confidence in the pocket and a gunslinger mentality, fitting the ball into some tight windows, leading the Dolphins to their only touchdown drive.
At this point, the Dolphins could be forced to start Tannehill, despite wanting to be patient with the raw quarterback. Moore isn’t taking this team anywhere, and the best way for Tannehill to learn is to be tossed into action. He has plenty of confidence, so the team shouldn’t be worried about rattling the kid. If he continues to play like he did on Friday, Tannehill could top the depth chart before long.
