The Jacksonville Jaguars have released Lee Evans, parting ways with the 31-year-old wide receiver just months after signing with the team. Evans has experienced his fair share of injuries in recent years, and it seems that those issues along with his age have him struggling to run the same way he used to.

Analysis: The Jaguars did their best to add plenty of firepower in their receiving corps this offseason. Evans was slotted as a second-string receiver at this point, ahead of Mike Thomas, who led the Jags in receptions in 2011.

His departure frees up some of the competition for Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson, the two starting receivers for the Jags on the depth chart. Blackmon has being seeing action with the first team lately, and John Oehser of jaguars.com reported today that the rookie made two impressive touchdown catches in practice.

Blaine Gabbert will need all the help he can get this year, assuming he continues to start. Fantasy owners should still temper their expectations with any of the Jags receivers, as the entire unit is still a work in progress.
