Florida Football: Jacoby Brissett, Jeff Driskel, ‘Dead On’ In Race To Start

The Florida Gators quarterback situation is closing up. Sophomores Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel are both in heated competition to take the starting position left vacant by former quarterback John Brantley. In the team's scrimmage on Saturday, Florida head coach Will Muschamp says that both quarterbacks completed close to 65 percent of their passes.

Both quarterbacks were used in relief of Brantley last season. Driskel was used mainly in the first half of the season, throwing for 148 yards on 16-for-34 on passing attempts and two interceptions with no touchdowns. Brissett on the other hand threw for 206 yards on 18-for-39 on passing attempts with two touchdowns and four interceptions.

Brissett was used more towards the end of the 2011 season, so his experience in SEC play could give him an edge over Driskel.
