The Texas Tech Red Raiders are losing two players -- one on each side of the ball. Offensive lineman Brian Thomas, who transferred to Lubbock from Texas A&M, has elected to leave the team, while safety Urell Johnson has decided to transfer.

Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville shed some light on Thomas’ decision to leave the Red Raiders’ football program. Per the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal:

“He’s got too many physical issues,” Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said after Monday’s practice. “He was second team and went down to third team. Physically, he couldn’t make it through a complete practice.”

Whether that speaks to Thomas' physical condition or his motor in practice remains unclear. The folks over at Double-T Nation believe that it's a little bit of both, and that Thomas' departure could elevate redshirt freshman LeRaven Clark up to the starting right guard spot on the depth chart.

Johnson, meanwhile, will join the Southern Miss. Golden Eagles. As he was buried on the Texas Tech depth chart, Johnson's departure is not viewed as significant.
