DFB-Pokal, Round 1: Friday Results: Augsburg, Eintracht Braunschweig Ease To Wins

Sonnenhof Großaspach 1 - 2 FSV Frankfurt

Sebastian Szimayer struck an early shock for the Regionalliga side when he scored in the 16th minute. Unfortunately for those pulling for an upset, Frankfurt turned the screws quickly and found goals rom Yannick Stark and Mathew Leckie in the 21st and 22nd minute. Yes. That quickly. Frankfurt would hold on for the win.

Lübeck 0 - 3 Eintracht Braunschweig

Eintracht Braunschweig sits atop the 2.Bundesliga table, and now they’re in the second round of the DFB Pokal after dispatching of 3.Liga side VfB Lübeck. Kevin Kratz scored a brace for Die Löwen, and Mirko Boland scored the other. It was an impressive performance by Braunschweig, and they will look to build on this for their promotion campaign.

Wilhelmshaven 0 - 2 Augsburg

FC Augsburg threw three players making their debut into the starting lineup and eased past Regionalliga side SV Wilhelmshaven. Andreas Ottl, Aristide Bance, and Knowledge Musona all received starts today in their first official contest with the club. Bance headed a cross by Tobias Werner in the 28th minute to put Augsburg ahead. Wilhelmshaven kept fighting for an equalizer, but Musona put the game away with a strike in the 78th minute. With the first win under the belt for Mark Weinzierl, he can now focus on getting his side ready for Bundesliga action.
