Tarvaris Jackson Trade Talks Expected To Heat Up, According To Report

After sitting out his second straight pre-season game, Tavaris Jackson finds himself the subject of increasing trade talks between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. GB is going to want more from Seattle for taking on such a large contract.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Tavaris Jackson didn't factor into Seattle's commanding 30-10 victory over the Peyton Mannings Denver Broncos. For the second straight game, Jackson stayed on the sidelines as he watched fellow quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson lead the Seahawks to victory.

With Flynn and Wilson showing they can run Seattle’s offense, Jackson becomes expendable. According to Jason La Canfora’s Twitter feed, the Seahawks are beginning to ramp up discussions with Green Bay in the hopes that they can move Jackson to Wisconsin. The one thing that will likely stand in the way of a quick trade is Jackson’s contract, netting him $4 million this season. Green Bay will want some sort of compensation for the expensive future backup to Aaron Rogers.

The 2011 season was Jackson’s first with the Seahawks. In 15 games, he had a 60.2% completion percentage with 13 interceptions and was sacked 42 times. Pete Carroll has maintained his position that Jackson remains a part of the quarterback competition in camp. Although, having not played him in two preseason games, it’s likely that Jackson is on his way out and Seattle is just trying to keep him healthy.
