Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Tamba Hali has been suspended one game by the NFL for a substance abuse violation
Hali is eligible to continue practicing with the Chiefs throughout training camp and may participate in Kansas City’s two remaining preseason games.
Hali, Kansas City’s first-round draft pick in 2006, recorded a team-high 12 sacks in 2011 and is regarded as one of the best 3-4 linebackers in all of football.
Kansas City will take on Matt Ryan and the explosive Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 on Sept. 9. Hali will be eligible to rejoin the active roster on Sept. 10.
Hali has also been fined one additional game check for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
