The Philadelphia Flyers and Scott Hartnell have agreed to a six-year contract extension on Monday, the team announced. As Hartnell has one season left on his current contract, the extension will begin next season.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Scott Hartnell have agreed to a six-year contract extension.

Hartnell, 30, has appeared in 407 out of a 410 regular season games since joining the Flyers and had a career-high in goals (37) and points (67). He also tied his career-high for assists (30) while appearing in all 82 games. Hartnell also made the NHL All-Star team for the first time in his 11-year career last season. Hartnell’s stellar season continued into the playoffs with eight points (three goals, five assists) in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said about Hartnell’s extension:
“We are pleased to announce that we have agreed with Scott on a multi-year extension,” said Holmgren. “Scott has been a very good player for us over the last five seasons and we look forward to many more good years to come.”
Hartnell has recorded 222 goals and 252 assists during the regular season in his NHL career.
