Patriots Release Jonathan Fanene, Two Others
The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday that they have released defensive lineman Jonathan Fanene, offensive lineman Kyle Hill and kicker Chris Koepplin.

Fanene, 30, was picked up by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 20, 2012 and given a $3.85 million signing bonus. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Fanene in the seventh round in 2005. He played for the Bengals for his whole career before joining the Patriots. Fanene was coming off a season in which he had a career-high 6.5 sacks when New England signed him. A knee injury kept him out of recent practices and preseason action.
Hill, 23, was signed as a rookie free agent on Aug. 8, 2012. Hill was a four-year starter for Duke University before joining the Patriots.
Koepplin, 26, was signed on April 16, 2012. The former UMass kicker was also at training camp with the Patriots in 2011.
