The Colorado Rockies' Dexter Fowler sprained his ankle during the fourth inning of Wednesday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles and had to leave the contest.

Colorado Rockies center fielder Dexter Fowler sprained his ankle on Wednesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. X-rays came up negative.


In fortunate news for Colorado, X-rays taken immediately afterward were negative. Via the Rockies’ Twitter account:

#Rockies injury update: OF Dexter Fowler suffered a sprained right ankle tonight. X-rays were negative.
Fowler was hurt after he hit a single and rolled his ankle going into second base on a throw to third. He had to be helped off the field by a pair of trainers.
His stats heading into the game reflect a breakout season: .306/.392/.499 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 435 at-bats. The Rockies have been injury-addled all season long.
