Suspended Minor Leaguers Were B-Ray-king Bad

Bud Selig's office made it clear on Thursday that he is the one who knocks. The Commissioner's office suspended three minor league players after they tested positive for -- wait for it -- meth. The players were all in the Tampa Bay Rays organization at Single-A Bowling Green. I think it's pretty clear what happened here.

I bet that people will be calling second baseman Ryan Brett, pitcher Charles Cononie and pitcher Justin Woodall a bunch of chicken brothers today after receiving 50-game suspensions without pay. But I think they probably deserve some congratulations no more half measures.

The only disappointing thing about this story is that the minor-league team in question isn’t in New Mexico. And also that the players didn’t release a statement saying that they’re neither in the baseball business nor the getting-suspended business: they’re in the empire business.

But anyway, good luck with that, you minor-league Heisenbergs! For the rest of your careers, you’ll probably be magnets (yo) for criticism. If anyone questions any strange substances in your bags or lockers, calmly explain that those are minerals. That should smooth things over.

For all news and information regarding the Tampa Bay Rays, head on over to DRaysBay or stop by SB Nation Tampa Bay.
