Matt Flynn Injury: Seahawks QB Has Arm Soreness

Matt Flynn sat out Thursday’s walk through with “arm soreness.” Could this be Russell Wilson’s chance to finally take the reigns?

Presswire

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn did not throw during Thursday's walk-through due to arm soreness, according to a tweet from ESPN's Liz Matthews.

The 27-year-old Flynn certainly can't be too happy with this development, as he's already seemingly falling behind rookie signal caller Russell Wilson in the quarterback derby. Head coach Pete Carroll elected to start Wilson in Seattle's third exhibition game this Friday against the Chiefs, a telling sign considering most coaches use the second-to-last preseason game as the dress rehearsal for their starters.

While Flynn (17-26, 102 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) hasn’t exactly played poorly by any standards, Wilson has simply generated more offense, completing 22 of his 33 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns to just one interception. The former Wisconsin Badger has also added 92 yards on the ground, along with a rushing touchdown.

In terms of long-term health, Flynn's ailment is most likely very minor. But Aaron Rodgers' former caddy better prove that it won't hold him back on the field Friday if there's still any chance of him earning the Seahawks' starting job.
