Chad Billingsley left Friday night's game in the fourth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher suffered some sort of an injury while pitching against the Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium.

Edit: Billingsley left with a “tender right elbow”

With the Dodgers up 6-3 in the fourth inning, Billingsley issued a one-out walk to Donovan Solano, then allowed a double to Rob Brantly, putting runners at second and third. While pitching to Gaby Hernandez, Billingsley was visited by Dodgers athletic trainer Sue Falsone, manager Don Mattingly, and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt at the mound. After a brief conversation, Billingsley exited the game.

Billingsley spent two weeks on the disabled list in July with right elbow inflammation, but because of the timing of the All-Star break, he missed just one start. Since his return, Billingsley had won six starts and, including Friday, had a 1.80 ERA during that span with 11 walks and 28 strikeouts in 45 innings.

The timing of the injury is coincidentally on the same day that the Dodgers are reportedly on the verge of acquiring starter Josh Beckett from the Boston Red Sox in a reported nine-player blockbuster trade that also has first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and outfielder Carl Crawford.
