It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t quick, and it was a long time coming.
Chris Volstad Wins Baseball Game

A long time coming. Sunday in Chicago, though, Chris Volstad finally won a baseball game.
From Paul Sullivan (via The Chicago Tribune):
Cubs starter Chris Volstad was on the verge of ending a 24-start winless streak Sunday night at Wrigley Field when a steady rain turned into a downpour, delaying the ending of the longest nightmare of his life.
"It's almost fitting the day took pretty long, right?" he said.
After 412 days between wins and a 2-hour, 23-minute rain delay Sunday afternoon, another half-hour wait wasn't going to kill him.
And it didn’t. That first delay came before the first pitch; that second, half-hour delay came after the eighth inning. Finally, the umpires decided the rains weren’t going to stop anytime soon, and so the ninth inning was canceled. So Volstad got a little help from the elements, but a) the Cubs were ahead 5-0 anyway, and b) if anyone was due for some good luck, it was Chris Volstad.
