Bayer Leverkusen Creating Separate Game Feed For Asian TV

Many clubs throughout Europe having been trying to crack the Asian television market for years, but it appears that Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have put in motion plans to maximize their marketing potential to eastern Asia specifically.

According to this report from Handesblatt, Bayer Leverkusen will be creating a separate television feed for their home matches in order to make the club “more attractive for Chinese and Japanese ad partners.”

The plan is to set up cameras in different locations than those used for German television. This will allow those cameras to focus on different advertising boards that aren’t seen by the German feed. The club expects to sell this ad space to Chinese and Japanese companies.

Leverkusen’s directing manager Wolfgang Holzhäuser said, “Our marketing opportunities in Germany are exhausted in regards to price and space.” They’re still in the planning stages at this time, but the goal is to “start after the winter break of the ‘13-14 season.”
