Joe Gibbs Racing to introduce Matt Kenseth as driver of Home Depot No. 20 next week

NASCAR’s worst kept secret is finally out. Joe Gibbs Racing has announced that they will introduce Matt Kenseth as the driver of the No. 20 Toyota at a press conference on Tuesday. Home Depot will remain with the team as Kenseth’s primary sponsor with Joey Logano currently free to explore other options.
JD Gibbs told ESPN’s David Newton that Logano was open to the possibility of remaining with Gibbs on a part-time basis, with a full-time Nationwide Series contract until “another opportunity came up.”
The opportunity might be with Roger Penske’s No. 22 Sprint Cup team following the suspension of driver A.J. Allmendinger and the mixed results of his replacement, Sam Hornish Jr.
Penske told Newton that his team would make a decision on the No. 22 and Hornish’s future prior to the Chicagoland Speedway Chase for the Championship race on Sept. 16.
Kenseth has been with Roush-Fenway Racing since he entered the Sprint Cup Series full time in 2000. He has 22 Cup wins. Logano has been with Gibbs since 2007 and has two Cup wins.
