The ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets announced on Wednesday that they have entered an affiliation agreement with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's Norfolk Admirals for the 2012-13 season.

As part of the affiliation agreement, the Komets will be able to put as many as four players in Norfolk’s upcoming training camp, which starts on September 27. Komets general manager David Franke is very excited about this new opportunity for his club.

“This will be our most direct pipeline to the American Hockey League since the old IHL in the 1990’s,” commented Komet general manager David Franke. “Principle people we will be working with regarding player movement are David McNab, Anaheim’s Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations, and Norfolk’s assistant general manager Bob Ferguson.”

Anaheim’s head coach Bruce Boudreau is a former Komet himself, playing with Fort Wayne for the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. He also was head coach of the Komets in 1993-94 and 1994-95, earning the IHL’s Commissioner’s Trophy (Coach of the Year) for the 1993-94 season. He joined the Ducks as head coach last year.
