KHL games to be broadcast on ESPN3 during lockout

Martin Rose - Bongarts/Getty ImagesThe KHL, which is based for the most part in Russia, but also features teams in six other European countries, will have five games shown on ESPN3 in the first 10 days of October, starting Wednesday. It’s unclear whether the streaming network will make further arrangements with the league to broadcast more games should the lockout cancel more of the NHL season.

PresswireWith the threat of labor uncertainty hanging over the 2012-13 NHL season, players have begun discussing alternative plans if the NHL owners and player’s association can not come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement by the Sept. 15 deadline.
According to league commissioner Gary Bettman, the league will lockout the players if a new deal is not in place.
