Marco Borriello Might Be On His Way Back To Genoa

Go on, say the sentence "Marco Borriello might be on his way back to Genoa," to a Juventus fan. Or even an AS Roma supporter. I bet you'll feel a gust of air as they exhale with relief. For some unknown reason, Borriello joined Juve on a six-month loan last season. Well, the reason was known to him -- he wanted the playing time he wasn't getting at Roma so he could be considered for Euro 2012. The true unknown is why Antonio Conte actually gave him opportunities to be on the pitch. Let's just say that his performances did not inspire Cesare Prandelli to bring Borriello along to Poland / Ukraine.

But Genoa was where Borriello played his best football, scoring 19 goals back in 2007-2008. He hasn't come anywhere near that level since them, but clearly the rossoblu are hoping he'll re-find his form at the Marassi. However, the move is contingent upon Alberto Gilardino heading to Bologna, so I guess we'll just wait and see.
