Colby Rasmus Leaves Game With Groin Injury

The Blue Jays lost several pitchers to injuries earlier this season. Now, the injury bug is hitting Toronto’s position players.

The Toronto Blue Jays have been a walking hospital ward all season. If it's not pitchers getting hurt, it's position players; the Jays lost Brett Lawrie to rib cage tightness in the first inning of Friday night's 15-inning loss to the Athletics, and later in the game, Colby Rasmus also departed with an injury:

... center fielder Colby Rasmus was taken out after the top of the 12th inning due to a strained groin, which [manager John] Farrell said Rasmus actually suffered a couple innings prior. That’s not a lot of detail; SB Nation’s Blue Jays site, Bluebird Banter, has more from watching the television broadcast of the game:

After doubling in the top of the 12th inning in tonight's game, Blue Jays' centre fielder Colby Rasmus was slow to run out to his position in the bottom half of the inning, and was subsequently pulled from the game by manager John Farrell. In his place, Anthony Gose was sent to play centre field, Rajai Davis shifted from left to right field, Yan Gomes went from first base to left field, and Edwin Encarnacion went from designated hitter to first base.

Rasmus returned to the bench, and pointed to first base coach Torey Lovullo's groin area, indicating a possible groin injury, as Lovullo's fly appeared to be in the zipped position. He was later seen to have gone into the clubhouse with trainer George Poulis.

A little more detail than you perhaps might have wanted; the Blue Jays’ website indicates that neither Rasmus nor Lawrie is likely to play in Saturday’s game.
