The Chicago Cubs have officially sent third baseman Jeff Baker to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for two players to be named later, the league announced on Sunday afternoon. The Cubs have been on a youth movement lately and shipping off the 31-year-old infielder to Detroit will allow Chicago to continue on that trend, promoting third baseman Josh Vitters and outfielder Brett Jackson to the Major League roster, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Both former No. 1 draft picks, Vitters and Jackson were called up from Triple-A Iowa. Vitters was hitting .304 with 17 homers and 68 RBIs at Iowa, while Jackson was hitting .256 with 15 homers and 47 RBI at Iowa.

On the season thus far, Baker was batting .269 with four home runs and 20 RBI and had been a member of the Cubs since the 2009 season.
