The Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-1 to improve to 80-60 on the season. Jarrod Parker shut down the Angels' lineup by allowing only three hits and one earned run through seven innings. It's Oakland's 10th straight road win.

The Athletics started their scoring thanks to the first very batter. Coco Crisp tripled to deep right field to set up a Seth Smith RBI groundout and a 1-0 Oakland lead. The Angels did rally to tie the game in the bottom of the third. Mike Trout walked, then advanced to third on a George Kottaras throwing error while stealing second. Torii Hunter then brought Trout home on a shallow right-field double.

However, Oakland regained the lead in the fifth inning when Brandon Moss went deep to right, and Cliff Pennington added an insurance homer in the top of the sixth. Parker sat down nine of his final 10 Angels batters, and the A's bullpen got the final six outs.

With the loss, the Angels fell to 77-64 and now stand 3.5 games behind the A's in second place in the American League West. With the win, the A's managed to move to within three games of the Texas Rangers.
