David Price Starting Friday For Rays

There’s no bigger ruh-roh in baseball than when you hear a team’s best starting pitcher has shoulder soreness. That’s because it always starts with the soreness, and then it devolves into a morass of MRIs, side sessions, and retroactive DL stints. At least, that’s what it seems like.

David Price missed Saturday's start against the Rangers with shoulder soreness. That seemed like a miserable sign for a team in the middle of a playoff tussle. But the worst fears of the Rays weren't realized. Price really did need nothing more than a rest.

From the Tampa Bay Times:

LHP David Price said his bullpen session went very well, and he is set to start Friday in New York.
“I felt good today,” Price said. “I felt very good. It was a a good step forward today. We should be good to go.”
Price skipped his Saturday start due to what was described as “general soreness” in his shoulder. He said the Rays still don’t know the cause, but is confident whatever it was, “I feel like it’s gone now.”

Good for the Rays. Bad for the Yankees. Which is good for the Rays. The prognosis couldn't be much better for Tampa Bay, and they'll have their best pitcher starting on Friday against the team they're chasing.
