The White Sox And Yom Kippur

The White Sox announced earlier Tuesday that their Sept. 25 game against the Indians would be played at 1:10 p.m. instead of 7:10 p.m. because fans had "communicated concerns" about the evening start on Yom Kippur. But there might also be another reason.

Youkilis will now play Sept. 25 as game time was changed from 7:10 to 1:10 pm for Yom Kippur. Likely wouldnt have before switch. #WhiteSox

Kevin Youkilis is Jewish. The White Sox haven't had a Jewish player since 2004 (Scott Schoeneweis), and haven't had a Jewish player of the stature of Youkilis since... well, maybe ever. This isn't to criticize the White Sox, only to say that there were factors beyond fan convenience involved.
