2014 World Cup Qualifying: Full UEFA Results Recap

UEFA World Cup qualifying was onto matchday two on Tuesday with a couple big match-ups in the mix. Here are the results:

Group A

Serbia 6-1 Wales

Serbia came flying out of the gates with two early goals, but Wales scored to make things interesting. It wasn't interesting for long, though. The Serbs destroyed Wales the rest of the way and by the time it was over, they had six different goal scorers and a valuable three points as they try to keep pace with Belgium and Croatia.

Belgium 1-1 Croatia

Scotland 1-1 Macedonia

The Scots were always going to have a tough time getting out of this group. After drawing their first two matches, they’re probably done.

Group B

Bulgaria 1-0 Armenia

Stanislav Manolev netted the only goal in this one as Bulgaria got a key three points, but against an Armenia team down to nine men by the end, a win was a must.

Italy 2-0 Malta

Group C

Sweden 2-0 Kazakhstan

Sweden have players not named Zlatan Ibrahimovic! You might have forgotten that at Euro 2012, but goals by Ramus Elm and Marcus Berg powered them today.

Austria 1-2 Germany

Group D

Romania 4-0 Andorra

This isn’t a great Romania team, but it’s a lot better than Andorra. Gabriel Torje and Costin Lazar scored the first two goals before two in stoppage time made the scoreline look silly.

Turkey 3-0 Estonia

After falling 2-0 to the Netherlands on Friday, Turkey needed to bounce back and that is exactly what they did. A goal just before halftime turned a nervy scoreless start into a match Turkey were in control off before they poured it on in the second half.

Hungary 1-4 Netherlands

Group E

Cyprus 1-0 Iceland

That’s nice for Cyprus.

Norway 2-1 Slovenia

After Slovenia went ahead early, Markus Henriksen answered. The match looked bound for a draw, but John Arne Riise's goal five minutes into stoppage time delivered Norway a key win.

Switzerland 2-0 Albania

Xherdan Shaqiri showed why he is the best Swiss player with an opening goal and the fantastic Gokhan Inler added a penalty to seal off an easy win.

Group F

Israel 0-4 Russia

Israel has given good teams tough matches before, especially in Israel, but Russia apparently doesn’t care. They destroyed the Israels in every way possible. Fabio Capello’s reign is off to a good start.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Luxumbourg

So that happened.

Portugal 3-0 Azerbaijan

Group G

Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 Latvia

Zvjezdan Misimovic scored twice for the home side and Latvia looked like, well, Latvia. As you were.

Slovakia 2-0 Liechtenstein

Marek Sapara and Martin Jakubko each scored in a professional win for Slovakia. Nice and easy, no mess.

Greece 2-0 Lithuania

The Greeks couldn't manage a goal in the first half, but they opened up some and goals by Sotiris Ninis and Kostas Mitroglou delivered them a good win.

Group H

San Marino 0-6 Montenegro

Poor San Marino.

Poland 2-0 Moldova

The Poles didn’t necessarily impress, but they got all three points. Robert Lewandowski’s inability to make a consistent impact has to be a concern. He had one good shot, but was M.I.A. for long stretches.

England 1-1 Ukraine

Group I

Georgia 0-1 Spain

France 3-1 Belarus
