The surging Phillies had their seven-game winning streak snapped on Thursday by a three-run 8th inning Astros rally. The Phillies broke out early to a 4-0 lead on the strength of a second inning RBI double from Eric Kratz and a flurry of four singles in the third. Phillies rookie starter Tyler Cloyd pitched only three innings, as he was knocked out in the fourth after giving up three runs without recording an out. The Phillies middle relief recorded a strong effort though, as B.J. Rosenberg, Josh Lindblom, and Antonio Bastardo combined for four innings of two-hit ball.

But Phillippe Aumont could not hold the lead, as he walked two and hit a batter in the eighth. Jed Lowrie then roped a double into the gap in right-center field to give the Astros the lead. Brandon Barnes then added a single to score Lowrie and give the Astros a 6-4 lead. Wilton Lopez recorded his fifth save of the season in closing out the ninth.
Jimmy Rollins was historic in the losing effort, recording the 400th steal of his career. He walked in the 8th inning and moved to second base on Carlos Ruiz's pinch-hit single. With Chase Utley batting, Rollins stole third for his 27th theft of the year, making it an even 400.
