Boston Red Sox owner John Henry has vehemently denied via email a Thursday report from the Fox Business Network that he is looking to sell the struggling club, per the Boston Herald:
Red Sox Owner John Henry Denies Report Of Possible Sale
Red Sox owner John Henry has adamantly denied Thursday’s Fox Business report that rumored at a possible sale of the team.

A sale of any kind is so far from our thinking it hasn’t even come up apart from technical planning issues involving death or disability,” said Henry in his email. “This report is completely without foundation...
“The Sox and any of the other components of FSG are not for sale and will not be for the foreseeable future.”
The original Fox Business article by Charlie Gasparino, which relied on unnamed sources, reported that executives at Fenway Sports Group were debating whether they had enough money to run both the Red Sox and Liverpool FC, and that informal discussions on the sale of the Sox had begun.
Henry’s terse response to the report, as well as the team’s public denial to Gasparino before the article’s publishing, indicate that the Boston franchise is not on the market. Though they currently sit in the AL East cellar, the Red Sox are still valued at $1 billion by Forbes.
