Clayton Kershaw Questionable For Sunday Start

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is questionable for his scheduled start Sunday night in the final game of the team's critical series against the Cardinals, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. Kershaw had his last start pushed back two days to Tuesday night due to inflammation in his right hip. The inflammation was irritating enough for Kershaw to cancel a scheduled bullpen session on Thursday.

Kershaw, the 2011 National League Cy Young Award winner, is having another Cy Young-caliber season in 2012. He leads the Majors in innings pitched (206 ⅔), strikeouts (206), and WHIP (1.016). His 2.70 ERA is the third-best in baseball.

The Dodgers sit two games back of the Cardinals for the second National League Wild Card spot heading into Friday night’s game in Los Angeles. Losing Kershaw would be a major blow to an already struggling Dodgers club that has lost seven of its last eight games.
