Hannover 96 Vs. Werder Bremen, 2012 Bundesliga: Huszti The Hero Again

For the second week in a row, Szabolcs Huszti was the Hannover Hero as they defeated Werder Bremen 3-2.

The Hungarian international was responsible for all three goals as Hannover extended their unbeaten streak at home to 20 matches.

Huszti gave Hannover the lead after just 6 minutes when his free kick curled over the wall and inside the near post. Huszti turned provider just 4 minutes later. Leon Andreasen headed home his cross to give Hannover a quick 2-0 lead after just 10 minutes.

Aaron Hunt pulled one back for Bremen after Mario Eggimann was called for handling in the area. Hunt put his penalty into the top corner leaving no doubt.

Bremen continued to push forward looking for an equalizer. They had the better chances throughout the second half, and they finally got their goal when Eljero Elia fed Kevin De Bruyne in the 74th minute. De Bruyne's shot went into the top of the net to make it 2-2.

With just seconds remaining in stoppage time, Hannover needed a hero, so they turned to Huszti. Konstantin Rausch sent in a cross from the left side, and Huszti made a decision and left his feet. The midfielder struck a bicycle kick that deflected off of a defender and into the back of the net to win the match for his club.

Unfortunately for Huszti, he was sent off for his celebration. He received a yellow card for taking his shirt off as he ran toward the supporters, and he was given a second for climbing up the wall to them.

It’s a huge three points for Hannover and moves them second in the table on goal differential.
