Zack Greinke pitched 8 1/3 shutout innings before giving up a single to Alex Gordon. With Greinke's pitch count sitting at 109, Mike Scioscia called on closer Ernesto Frieri to protect the 2-0 lead.
Royals Rally To Beat Angels In 9th, 3-2
Billy Butler and Salvador Perez hit back-to-back homers off of Ernesto Frieri to give the Royals a 3-2 comeback victory.

Billy Butler didn't waste any time in foiling the plan as he launched a two-run homer to tie the game. Salvador Perez followed with a homer of his own to give the Royals the walk-off win.
Jeremy Guthrie nearly matched Greinke pitch for pitch as he only allowed a home run to Kendrys Morales leading off the fifth and a Torii Hunter RBI single in the 8th. Kelvin Herrera worked a scoreless ninth and earned the victory.
It was Frieri’s third blown save and first loss of the season. Butler’s homer was his 27th of the season and it was Perez’s 11th.
