The Oakland A's used a big third inning offensive outburst to take a 5-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night. With the loss of the Texas Rangers against Seattle, the A's have pulled to within two games of the American League West lead.

Oakland starter Jarrod Parker allowed two runs and seven hits, striking out five in seven solid innings for A's. Sean Doolittle and Grant Balfour would close out the game with two scoreless inning to secure the win.

Baltimore would take a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning before a Stephen Drew home run and a Josh Reddick single tied the game. The A's would take the lead soon after with a Chris Carter RBI double that would give Oakland a 5-2 lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game.

Baltimore starter Zach Britton lasted just four innings, allowing five runs and walking four before being replaced.

The Orioles failed to pull closer the the New York Yankees, who won 5-3 against the Tampa Bay Rays and hold a one-game lead in the AL East.
