The Texas Rangers moved right-hander Scott Feldman to the bullpen and promoted Martin Perez to the No. 5 spot in the rotation following Sunday's game, per the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. Feldman made seven starts after replacing Roy Oswalt in the rotation in early August, but failed to pick up a victory:

“It’s disappointing, but it wasn’t from a lack of trying,” Feldman said. “It’s definitely been one of those seasons that’s pretty challenging mentally, so I’ll try to take the positive out of it and get ready for the postseason being in that bullpen role.”

Feldman (6-11, 5.32) had his worst start of the season on Saturday, giving up six runs in 2⅔ innings. Perez, 21, impressed following Feldman’s poor Saturday start, throwing 4⅓ innings of no-hit ball. The rookie left-hander has made three starts for the Rangers this season, posting a 2.60 ERA in 17⅓ innings.

The fifth spot in the rotation will be critical for the Rangers in the final weeks of the season, with two of the three scheduled starts coming against the division rival Oakland Athletics, who sit just three back in the AL West.
